A mobility scooter user has died after being struck by an HGV at a crossing point, police have said.

Greater Manchester Police said the 63-year-old woman died at the scene after being hit on Spotland Road, Rochdale, at about 12:20 GMT on Thursday.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

Appealing for witnesses, PC Philip Drummond said officers were "following up on a number of lines of enquiry".
