A woman has been interviewed under caution over the alleged assault of a nine-year-old boy in a play park at a National Trust site, police have said.

Cheshire Police said the child was reported to have been attacked at Tatton Park, near Knutsford, at about 15:30 GMT on 30 March.

It said officers "located all parties" and a woman had been interviewed, but inquiries were "ongoing".

The force said it wanted to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened.

A representative said an investigation was under way to "establish the full circumstances".

PC John Millman added that the park had been "very busy that day with lots of visitors" and he was "very keen to hear from anyone who... saw any incident between a boy and a female".
