A woman who was struck and killed as she walked along a motorway was "taken to soon", her family has said.

Lisa Kelsall, 52, was hit by a van on an M6 slip road near Warrington, Cheshire, at 00:15 BST on Tuesday.

The family of Mrs Kelsall, from Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, said she was a "loving daughter, mother and grandmother-to-be".

A 47-year-old man from Preston was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later bailed.

It happened on the slip road for the M62 between Junction 21 and 21a, travelling northbound.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyway who saw Mrs Kelsall's white Vauxhall Mokka or a white Citroen Relay van between 23:30 BST on Monday 8 April and the time of the incident to come forward.
