Liverpool painting prize results streamed online

The shortlisted paintings will go on display at the Walker Art Gallery
The results of a prestigious painting prize judged in Liverpool next month are to be broadcast live online for the first time.
The John Moores Painting Prize attracts a broad spectrum of artists as no preference is given to levels of experience or practices of painting.
Previous winners include David Hockney, Richard Hamilton and Peter Doig.
The private ceremony on 16 September can be viewed on the Liverpool John Moores website.

Organisers say viewers will have a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes of the event, which is held at the city's Walker Art Gallery on the eve of Liverpool Biennial's launch.
Judges will choose from 45 artists shortlisted from 3,000 entrants, with the winner receiving a £25,000 prize and four runners-up winning £2,500 each.
The judging panel is made up of artists Gary Hume, Alison Watt, Ged Quinn, Goshka Macuga and curator/critic Sir Norman Rosenthal.
The shortlisted paintings will be on display at the Walker Art Gallery from 18 September to 3 January 2011.
