The headquarters of the former Royal Liver Group is to move out of Liverpool after 161 years in the city.
Two-hundred and twenty jobs will be lost in the city. It is thought about half of the staff will be transferred to Wilmslow in Cheshire.
The closure follows the takeover of the group by the Royal London Group in June. It has a base in Wilmslow.
The Royal Liver building, adorned with the city's emblem, the Liver Birds - celebrated its centenary on 19 July.
The Royal London Group still owns the Liver Building. It is thought the offices will be rented out to other companies.
