Anthony Walker's killer sorry over racist Facebook abuse

The mother of murdered teenager Anthony Walker has received an apology from one of his killers after racist abuse was posted on a social media site.

Gee Walker said Paul Taylor had contacted her to say that he did not write the abuse which appeared on his Facebook profile in August.

She said Taylor wrote that he knew she had "suffered enough and didn't want to bring me any more pain".

In the letter, he also offered to meet her but she said she was "not ready".

Paul Taylor and Michael Barton were jailed for life in 2005 for the racist murder of Anthony Walker.

Mrs Walker said that she had been upset by the incident in August.

She said that Taylor had written to her to "apologise and say that it wasn't him that posted those remarks".

The abuse has since been removed from Taylor's page.

Mrs Walker said that she had barely even begun to get over the loss of her son.

"There is a proverb that says time is a great healer," she said.

"It's not true - the healing process is slow, very slow, but the pain is still there.

"There are gaps and the gaps are wider, but when the pain hits you, it could have been yesterday."

Mrs Walker has previously said that she would like to meet the pair in the future.

She reiterated that point, but said that she was "not ready" to take that step yet.

"God only knows [when I will be], but I'm sure my heart will tell me when the time is right," she said.
