Southport businessman 'target of shootings', court told

The home of a Merseyside businessman was the target of two shootings and a grenade attack, a court has been told.
John Ball hired a security guard to watch his Southport home following the attacks in March and June 2009, Woolwich Crown Court heard.
The failed grenade attack in July 2009 saw a device left on the wall of Mr Ball's neighbour, Liverpool football manager Kenny Dalglish.
Tony Downes and Kirk Bradley are being tried in their absence.
Mr Downes, 25, of no fixed abode, and Mr Bradley, 26, of Altfinch Close, Stockbridge Village, deny two charges.
They have pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to possess firearms with intent to endanger life and conspiracy to damage property with intent to endanger life.
A third man, Colin Fitzgibbon, 41, of West Oakhill Park, Old Swan, denies conspiracy to possess firearms with intent to endanger life.
The case continues.
