Private Daniel Wade was killed in the bomb attack in southern Afghanistan

The family of a Warrington soldier killed in a Taliban bomb attack in southern Afghanistan have spoken of how "immensely proud" they are of him.

Pte Daniel Wade, 20, died along with five colleagues when their Warrior armoured personnel carrier was destroyed by a bomb on Tuesday.

He was a member of 3rd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.

His fiancée Emma is pregnant with the couple's first child which is expected in June.

In a statement his family said he was "a typical young, fun loving lad with his whole life ahead of him" and they were "utterly devastated" at his death.

'Loving, brave man'

Daniel was based at Battlesbury Barracks in Warminster, Wiltshire, and had left the UK for Afghanistan on 14 February.

His uncle, David Hamilton, read the statement on behalf of Daniel's family and his fiancée.

He said: "Daniel was 20 years old and like any other normal 20 year old he was just finding his feet in life, building a future for himself and his fiancée Emma.

"Emma adored Dan; he was her life and will remain so both in her heart and through the life of their first child expected in June."

"He loved his family - and his mum Lisa and sister Stacey could not have asked for a more loving, loyal, supportive young man to have shared their everyday lives with.

"Each and everyone of us who knew Daniel have been privileged to have their lives touched by such a wonderful, loving, brave man and whilst we have lost Daniel from our lives he remains in our hearts forever."

Sgt Nigel Coupe, 33, Cpl Jake Hartley, 20, Pte Anthony Frampton, 20, Pte Christopher Kershaw, 19, and Pte Daniel Wilford, 21, also died when the bomb planted by the Taliban detonated.
