A man has been killed and another is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after a double shooting in a street in Liverpool.
Merseyside Police said the two men were shot on Ravensthorpe Green, Norris Green, at about 01:00 BST.
Joseph Thompson, 32, from Norris Green, died at the scene.
The other man, who is 27, is in hospital with gunshot injuries to his upper body, that are not thought to be life-threatening.
Police said it was a "targeted attack".
Assistant Chief Constable Andy Ward said firearms officers would "now be displaying their weapons overtly" in patrols of the area.
Mr Ward said gun crime was an issue in the area and urged people to come forward with information.
He said people's reluctance to co-operate with the police had hindered many investigations.
"In the last 30 shootings only four people involved have assisted us at all."
