Tweddle reflects on Olympic success

Olympic medal winning gymnast Beth Tweddle says she wants to try wing walking, bungee jumping and sky diving once she retires from gymnastics.

The 27-year-old who won bronze in the uneven bars in London 2012 has ruled out competing at Rio 2016.

Tweddle, a member of the City of Liverpool Gymnastics Club, said she would not be retiring straight away.

The three-time world champion added she was unlikely to take up coaching but would not walk away from the sport.

"There's a lot of opportunities I've got now, a lot of things I want to do like wing walking, bungee jumping, sky diving and skiing," she said.

Tweddle also said: "I have always wanted to do physiotherapy, so I've got a place ready to start my degree for that - as for coaching I don't think I could do it to the level that my coach does, I know how much of a pain I can be."

She added: "I'm not going to retire straight away, it would be too much physically and mentally to stop after 20 years of training.

"With the support of my coach and federation I am going to carry on training and slowly make a decision."

Tweddle added: "It is going to be very strange, I have never known anything else, I'm never going to walk away from gymnastics it's been too much a part of my life."
