A letter written to a Beatles' fan by John Lennon's aunt in 1964 has sold for £250 at auction.
Mary Elizabeth 'Mimi' Smith became Lennon's guardian when his mother - her younger sister Julia - remarried.
The letter was written to Susan Mottram of Newcastle, Staffordshire, and was sent from Woolton in Liverpool where Lennon spent most of his childhood.
Wolverhampton auctioneers Cuttlestones said the letter had lots of interest and sold to a UK telephone bidder.
Mrs Smith wrote that Lennon "certainly has always had a great sense of humour, but he's really nice, always has been".
The letter was written a few weeks after The Beatles celebrated holding the top five positions on the Billboard Hot 100 singles list.
