Two women arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after a 79-year-old man was killed in an attack by a dog in Liverpool, have been bailed.
Clifford Clarke, 79, was mauled in the garden of his home in the Clubmoor area of Liverpool on Saturday.
The animal, described by police as being "out of control", was shot by armed officers.
The women, aged, 27 and 28, and from Clubmoor, were arrested and later bailed.
They had been held on suspicion of manslaughter and an offence under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
Police said the attack took place shortly after 20:30 BST and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
The breed of dog has not been confirmed but nearby residents said it looked like a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Neighbours in Richard Kelly Close reported screams while others thought a dog fight was taking place.
Mr Clarke, who was reportedly cooking food prior to the attack, had apparently told neighbours his fence had previously been damaged by dogs.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said a post-mortem examination showed Mr Clarke died from "multiple injuries consistent with a dog attack".
