Boy, 6, dies after being hit by van in West Derby

A six-year-old boy has died after being hit by a van in Liverpool.

The boy was struck while on Leyfield Road, West Derby, close to the junction with Hampton Court Road at about 15:25 BST.

Police and paramedics attended and he received treatment at the scene but died from his injuries shortly after.

Leyfield Road was closed for a time while inquiries were carried out but has since reopened. Police have asked for any witnesses to contact them.
