Everton and Liverpool supporters have joined forces at the Merseyside derby to protest about ticket prices.

Many fans from all 20 Premier League clubs are calling for a £20 cap on away tickets.

Last year's BBC Sport Price of Football study showed the Premier League's average cheapest ticket price has increased 15% since 2011.

Terry Craven, of the Everton Supporters Trust, said current prices were "wrong" and that "away games are the worst".

Demonstrations took place outside Goodison Park before the match.

Mr Craven said: "A family of four can now spend more than £250 for a single match, once everyone's had a hotdog and a drink.

"Away games are the worst. You're sometimes paying double the price of a home ticket. It seems to be open season on people's wallets.

"Football is nothing without the fans. If you take away the fans then the Premier League product would be unsellable.

"They need to be doing more to make football affordable."
