Man 'attacked' with two sons in Southport dies

A man allegedly attacked alongside his two sons after watching Liverpool play in Saturday's Champions League final has died, police have said.

Police said Ventsislav Marginov, 51, was assaulted on Saturday in Lord Street, Southport, after viewing the game in Victoria Park.

A man, 31, from Southport appeared in court earlier charged with grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday.

Police said Mr Marginov was taken to hospital with one of his sons, aged 28, who suffered facial injuries.

A second suspect, aged 32, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and later released on bail.
