Workers from the Unite union will walk out on 8 November

A third round of strike action impacting home waste collections is set to start in Warrington.

Members of the Unite union will walk out from 8 to 20 November in a row over pay.

Warrington Council has called for the union to cancel the strike, as it said the action was over a national pay offer.

Unite said the council had a "complete lack of urgency" towards resolving the dispute.

The latest strike was announced last month, while another round of industrial action was taking place.

Union members previously walked out between 3 and 16 October with the council unable to complete collections on most days and a second strike ran from 24 October to 6 November.

Warrington Council said three unions - Unite, Unison and GMB - had met nationally to discuss the pay offer and it had been agreed.

"With this in mind, the council is asking Unite not to take further strike action, since agreement on this year's national pay award - the basis of Unite's strike action - has been reached," a representative said.

In October, Unite said a "lack of urgency" from the council was "needlessly dragging" the strike out.
