Widnes ice rink closes after carbon monoxide leak concerns

An ice rink has been closed amid reports of a carbon monoxide leak after a number of people reported feeling unwell after visiting at the weekend.
Planet Ice in Widnes, Cheshire, said it had closed "due to unforeseen circumstances" and urged anyone who felt ill to seek medical advice.
The closure came after an ice hockey game at the rink on Saturday.
Gas supplier Cadent said its engineers were called out and had isolated the gas supply to the building.
A spokesman said: "As the gas emergency service, we responded to reports of a possible carbon monoxide incident at the ice rink venue."

He added: "We were able to establish that the local gas network is sound and did not contribute to what has happened.
"The matter is now being looked into by environmental health teams."
Halton Council said its environmental team was also investigating to work out the cause.
Ice hockey team Widnes Wild played a match against Solihull Barons at the rink on Saturday.
Posting on X, the team said: "We're aware of several people reporting varying levels of illness after attending our game on Saturday.
"We have reported these to Planet Ice and will update everyone once we have received a response.
"Anyone continuing to feel unwell should seek medical advice."
