Driver charged after 92-year-old struck and killed in Liverpool

A man has been charged with causing death by careless driving after a 92-year-old woman was hit by a car.
Mohamed Mahadi from Wavertree in Liverpool was arrested after the Ford Focus hit the elderly pedestrian in the city centre on Sunday.
The 33-year-old has been charged with causing death by careless driving after the woman later died.
He has been held in custody and is set to appear before magistrates in Wirral on 2 January.
He has also been charged with driving an uninsured or unlicensed vehicle after the incident, which happened on Canning Street, near the Catharine Street junction in the city's Georgian Quarter.
Merseyside Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact the force.
