Sixth man charged over Liverpool 'disturbance' stabbings

A sixth man has been charged after a "large disturbance" in Liverpool which left four other men injured.

Four men suffered stab wounds near a nightclub on Victoria Street on 27 December, Merseyside Police said.

The force said a 21-year-old was in a critical but stable condition in hospital, while the others were recovering at home.

A 29-year-old man has been charged with violent disorder and is due to appear before magistrates' on Monday.

A 21-year-old man has previously been charged with wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon along with violent disorder.

Two 20-year-olds and two 21-year-olds are also accused of violent disorder.

Officers found the 21-year-old with stab wounds to his chest at the junction of Church Street and Whitechapel at about 05:30 GMT on 27 December.

A force representative said a second man went to hospital with a stab wound to his back, while two others suffered head lacerations which were "believed to have been caused by being hit with a bottle or glass".

They said it was believed two groups of men had come together after leaving The Safehouse nightclub.
