Watch: CCTV shows Leslie Garrett firing in a newsagents

A man has admitted firing an AK-47-style rifle at a cinema, a newsagent and a house.

Leslie Garrett, 49, pleaded guilty to eight charges relating to the shootings in the Croxteth and Norris Green areas of Liverpool on 3 January.

Shots were fired outside a Showcase cinema, in a newsagents in Lower House Lane and at a house.

Garrett, of Fazakerley, was further remanded in custody at Liverpool Crown Court ahead of sentencing in April.

Judge Robert Trevor-Jones ordered the preparation of a pre-sentence report ahead of the next hearing.

Garrett's lawyer Paul Lewis told the court preparation of medical reports was already under way.

The court heard there would be victim impact reports from the shop assistant and cinema worker who had a firearm pointed at them.

Garrett, of Ternhall Road, admitted possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He also pleaded guilty to possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life, three counts of possessing ammunition without a certificate and attempted robbery.

He is due to face a sentencing hearing at the same court on 5 April.
