Newton-le-Willows: Two women arrested after man found dead

Two women have been arrested after a man was found dead in a house.

Police were called to reports a 46-year-old man had been found unresponsive at a house on Barnett Avenue, Newton-le-Willows just after 14:00 on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed.

A 52-year-old woman and a woman aged 27 were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

Det Insp Jimmy Rotheram said the investigation was ongoing and a post-mortem examination is due to take place to establish the cause of death.

"While we have already made two arrests, our specialist officers remain at the scene as we carry out forensic examinations and review any CCTV footage in the area," Det Insp Rotheram said.
