Man in critical condition after stabbing in Southport

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after a stabbing in Southport, according to police.
The victim, in his 50s, was attacked in Meols Cop Road at about 20:00 GMT on Friday, Merseyside Police said.
He suffered several slash wounds and was taken to hospital where he remains critically ill.
Police described it as "an isolated incident" and appealed for anyone with information and footage to contact them.
