Tom FitzPatrick succeeds Bill Borrett as Conservative group leader
A new leader of the Conservative group on Norfolk County Council has been elected.
Tom FitzPatrick, the current leader of North Norfolk District Council, has been chosen to lead what is the main opposition group on the council.
He has taken over from Bill Borrett, who had been elected leader of the Conservative group and the council in February 2013.
The Conservatives lost control of the council last May.
Speaking to BBC Radio Norfolk, Mr Borrett said Mr FitzPatrick had his full support.
After the May elections, an alliance of Labour, UKIP and the Liberal Democrats supported by the Green Party and an Independent took control of the council.
In December 2012, Mr FitzPatrick became leader of North Norfolk District Council after his predecessor Keith Johnson shot his wife Andrea and then himself at their home in Cromer.
He is a parish and district councillor for Walsingham, where he lives, and for the Fakenham division on the county council.
