Drone captures Cromer New Year's Day fireworks display

Thousands of people gathered to watch what is thought to be the UK's only fireworks display launched from a pier.

Featuring about 3,000 fireworks, the annual free New Year's Day show, fired from Cromer Pier in north Norfolk at 17:00 GMT, regularly attracts about 15,000 visitors to the seaside town.

Created by Titanium Fireworks, based in Cambridgeshire, the display takes about a week to design with a few more days needed to prep the explosives. The team are also responsible for the London New Year's Eve display.

First staged in 2000 to mark the Millennium, a bucket collection funds the show - with thousands then given each year to local good causes. Grants have so far topped more than £100,000.
