The village of Stoke Ferry will have an estate of 29 social housing properties after planning permission was granted

A social housing estate will be built in a village after being granted planning permission.

Freebridge Community Housing will build 29 houses for rent or shared ownership off Lynn Road in Stoke Ferry, near Downham Market.

The Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk's planning committee approved the proposal from the area's main housing association, external.

The group will also build a new car park for the village hall.

Previous developers Chalcroft had promised land for a new village hall off Furlong Road, but plans fell through when the firm went out of business.

Councillors said the hall would have been a benefit to the community, but two shops and flats since proposed for the land, external by developer Norton Hill were not the same.

They voted to turn down the application.
