Plans for a £300m redevelopment of a shopping centre in Northampton are to go on public display for the first time.

Developers Legal and General Property (LGP) and Northampton Borough Council agreed the extension of the Grosvenor Centre in 2009.

The plans are for new shops, restaurants and public spaces and the improvement of the existing centre.

An exhibition in the centre on 18 and 19 March will ask shoppers their views.

Richard Church, cabinet member for planning and regeneration, said: "The redevelopment of the Grosvenor Centre will be a £300m investment in the future of Northampton, creating the vibrant retail offer that people want to see and bringing jobs and business to the town."

Senior fund manager at LGP Simon Russian said: "Although there is some way to go, we want to hear what local people wish to see in the new development before we start to prepare the planning application for the new centre."
