Summer Leys Nature Reserve death not considered suspicious

The death of a woman whose body was found in water at a nature reserve has not been deemed suspicious, police have said.

Officers were called to Summer Leys Nature Reserve, in Wollaston, Northamptonshire, by a member of the public at about 11:00 BST on Wednesday.

A preliminary forensic post-mortem examination found Danika Mann, 20, of Wellingborough, died from drowning.

Det Ch Insp Adam Pendlebury said his thoughts were with her family.

The nature reserve was sealed off.

It is a large, former gravel pit, which is run by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.

Det Ch Insp Pendlebury said: "My thoughts continue to be with Danika's family and friends as they try to come to terms with her death."

He added the investigation would continue into Ms Mann's death and appealed for anyone with any information to get in touch.

The wildlife trust said via its Facebook page, external the reserve would remain closed until Tuesday.

It thanked people for their co-operation and asked them not to visit the site "at this time".
