A prominent councillor has resigned because of "serious ill health issues".
Suresh Patel represented East Hunsbury and Shelfleys ward in Northampton on West Northamptonshire Council.
He chaired the council's Democracy and Standards Committee.
The council's Conservative group said the resignation of Mr Patel was "due to serious ill health issues, and medical advice to reduce stress - Suresh is currently resting and recuperating with his family".
