A residential centre for children described as "unique" will mark its half century with two open days in May.

Everdon Outdoor Learning Centre in Everdon, near Daventry, offers overnight stays and day trips for children to study geography, science and the environment.

It also provides adult learning and a space for community events.

Phil Larratt, from the Conservative-controlled council, said it was a "unique place".

"It is great to see that we are celebrating this important milestone in the journey of this fantastic facility," he said.

"[It] offers activities such as river studies, woodland survival, orienteering, and work with nurture groups.

"The wonderful team at the centre pride themselves on creating a homely atmosphere and making everyone who visits feel welcome."

The venue, run by West Northamptonshire Council (WNC), will hold the open days between 13:00 and 17:00 GMT on 5-6 May.
