Teen guilty of manslaughter after cricket fan's death

A Nottingham man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after a cricket fan died following a test match in July.

Jacob Dunne, 19, of Whickham Court, The Meadows, attacked James Hodgkinson, 28, from Southampton, near Market Square in Nottingham.

Mr Hodgkinson suffered serious head injuries after the unprovoked attack in the early hours of 31 July, Nottingham Crown Court heard.

A second 19-year-old man has been released on police bail.

Dunne will be sentenced on 4 November.

Mr Hodgkinson, a trainee paramedic, had been visiting Nottingham with his father, brother and three friends to watch the Test match between England and India at Trent Bridge.

After the attack he was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham where he died on 9 August.
