Rail services from Nottingham train station will be disrupted

No direct trains will leave from Nottingham to London for six weeks next summer due to redevelopment work, Network Rail has said.

The £100m project, which includes six miles of new track, a new platform, and more than 140 signals, will take place between 20 July and 26 August 2013.

Passengers will have to get London trains at East Midlands Parkway with connecting replacement bus services.

The firm said the work would improve the speed of its rail services.

Network Rail's route managing director Martin Frobisher said: "We realise this will cause disruption to passengers and have made every effort to minimise the length of time our resignalling will take."

Services between Nottingham and Skegness will also be affected, with trains starting and terminating at Grantham, the company has said.
