Susan Edwards admits killing mother found buried at Mansfield home

A woman whose parents were found buried in their back garden has admitted her mother's manslaughter.

Susan Edwards, 56, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Patricia Wycherley but maintained her not guilty plea to two counts of murder.

She and her husband, Christopher, 57, both deny murdering Mrs Wycherley and her husband William, whose bodies were discovered at their home.

The Wycherleys vanished from their home in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, in 1998.

Their remains were recovered by police from the grounds of the two-bedroom house last October.

The defendants previously admitted burying the couple in the back garden, obstructing the coroner in the execution of his duty and theft of a credit balance.

The couple are alleged to have been murdered by their daughter and son-in-law between May 1 and 5, 1998.

The accused, of no fixed address, were arrested at St Pancras International station in London on 30 October last year.

A jury has been sworn in at Nottingham Crown Court, with the prosecution case expected to open on Thursday morning.
