Newark murder charge after woman found dead on bed

A man has been charged with the murder of his partner found dead on a bed with bruising on her body.
Police were called to Victoria Street in Newark, Nottinghamshire, on Thursday after members of the public raised the alarm.
Valdamara Zemaitiene, aged 48, was found inside the house.
Her partner Vitoldas Platakis, of Victoria Street, Newark, was arrested at the scene and appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
The 50-year-old was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday.
Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.
