Sutton-in-Ashfield: Murder probe launched after injured man, 76, dies

A murder investigation has been launched after a 76-year-old man found with injuries died.

Police went to an address in Northfields Close, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, at about 01:00 GMT on Friday, after reports a man had been assaulted.

He was given CPR, however the man was pronounced dead an hour later.

A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, with police stressing this is an isolated incident.

Det Insp Mel Crutchley said: "Our deepest condolences remain with this man's family and friends at this difficult time.

"While our investigation is still in its early stages, we are treating this as an isolated incident. Those involved are known to each other."
