Budby: Man dies at scene after being hit by car in early hours

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in the early hours in Nottinghamshire.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Ollerton Road, Budby, shortly after 04:00 GMT.

Nottinghamshire Police received a report that a man had been struck by a car and paramedics treated him but he was declared dead shortly after 05:00.

The driver stopped at the scene and was spoken to by police. No arrests have been made.

The road was closed while the injured man received treatment and was expected to remain shut for several hours, police said.

Sgt Mark Baker said: "A man sadly died at the scene following this tragic incident and our thoughts are with his family at this extremely difficult time."
