Nottingham tram fares to increase across the board in new year

The cost of travelling on trams in Nottingham will increase in the new year after the operator announced changes to its fare prices.
Nottingham Express Transit (NET) said prices will go up "across the board" from 8 January for people travelling on the city's tram network.
An adult single ticket will cost £3.20 - a rise of 20p per journey.
The operator also announced it would be reducing its adult season ticket by £225 throughout January.
The fare changes would allow people to "get their hands on big savings", NET said in a statement on its website.
Alison Sweeney, head of marketing at NET, said: "The festive period is often the most expensive time of the year for many, and coupled with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, there are many across the city who are feeling the pinch more than ever right now.
"Our new January offer will mean the thousands of tram users who rely on our network to travel for work, days out and more, will be able to do so for much less, allowing them to put those extra funds to good use elsewhere."
Second price hike
An adult day ticket will soon cost £5.30 - a 30p increase from the current price of £5.
It is the second price hike NET has announced this year after increases in the spring saw the price of an adult single ticket go from £2.80 to £3.
Under the plans for the new year, an annual season ticket will cost £450 instead of £675 when purchased between 1 January and 31 January.
It comes as Nottinghamshire County Council has been holding a consultation into concessionary tram travel in the county.
The authority has said it could remove free and discounted tram travel for elderly and disabled people using the tram network.
