Two men who were found hiding on the roof of a warehouse that had been turned into a cannabis factory have been jailed.

Nottinghamshire Police said 600 cannabis plants were discovered across four rooms within the warehouse in Edwin Street, Daybrook on 27 February.

Xhuljan Stafaj, aged 27, and Ervis Llani, 20, jumped down from their hiding spot and tried to run away but were caught by police, the force said.

They each received 14-month jail terms.

Stafaj, of Edwin Street, and Llani, of no fixed abode, had previously pleaded guilty to producing a Class B drug at Nottingham Crown Court.

In order to gain access to the property, police officers had to force their way through three doors when they arrived at the premises at about 12:20 GMT to carry out the search.

Det Sgt Toni Smithurst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We were alerted to this grow when people spotted the electricity supply was being bypassed to this building.

"This was putting neighbouring homes at risk, so I am grateful for their information which has allowed us to put this extensive cannabis factory out of action."
