A man has been arrested after a woman was found seriously injured in Nottingham.

Officers were called to an address in Park Lane, Basford, at 03:45 BST on Tuesday.

The woman was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre, where she is receiving treatment for her injuries.

The suspect, a 39-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody.

A police scene is still in place, however the force says there is no wider risk to the public.

Det Sgt Laura McCullough, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We understand an incident like this can cause concern to the community, but I want to personally reassure the public that we do have a suspect in custody and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."
