Oxford swimming pool plans submitted

Plans for a new competition-standard swimming pool in Oxford have been submitted.

Oxford City Council wants to build an eight-lane, 25m pool and a teaching pool at Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre.

The finished facility would replace pools at Temple Cowley and the existing pool at Blackbird Leys.

If the plans are approved, the swimming pool is due to be completed by the autumn of 2012 and will cost about £8.5m to build.
