A laser was shone at an aeroplane and at cars in Oxfordshire on Thursday night, police have said.
The commercial flight was flying over Oxford at on Thursday evening, when a green laser was shone at the aircraft, which could have affected navigation.
Reports reached Thames Valley Police that people in a silver car were shining a green laser at traffic on the A40 near Witney at the same time.
Officers are investigating whether the incidents are linked.
Det Con Ian Gibbard, of Banbury CID, said: "Shining a laser at an aircraft is a criminal offence and extremely dangerous, and anyone doing this will be dealt with severely.
"It is not just a childish prank and it can have very serious consequences."
