Campaigners described the proposed cuts as "madness"

Campaigners have held a demonstration in Oxford to protest against plans to outsource two NHS services.

Members of Oxon Keep Our NHS Public (KONP) staged a mock auction in the Cornmarket to raise awareness of the proposed NHS sell offs.

Oxfordshire's podiatry and audiology services are due to be put out to private tender.

The group said it handed out 1,000 leaflets warning the public of the plans for privatisation.

Supporters of anti-cuts campaigners, health workers and trade unionists joined KONP.

Spokesman Bill MacKeith said: "People can stop it getting flogged off.

"This is madness. It is not choice we are after, but good services delivered by publicly owned entities, not profit-oriented companies."
