A new £150,000 cycle hire scheme has been announced for an area of Oxford in a bid to tackle traffic congestion.

Thirty bikes will be located at seven sites in Headington and available to the public from Thursday,

Users need to register to take advantage of the two-year pilot project, which will be operated by Grand Scheme Bike Share.

The county council has financed it using cash from the government's Local Sustainable Transport Fund.

Charges will vary depending on the length of time a bicycle is hired.
