Plans to build 270 new homes on land formerly used by an Oxford hospital have been approved.

Outline planning permission to develop Littlemore Park was rejected earlier this month over concerns about a lack of existing transport links.

Oxford City Council reviewed the application with the land identified for development in the local plan.

The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust wants to build a mixture of one to four-bed homes and flats.

Planning review committee chairman James Fry said the outline planning permission was "approved after a close vote".

Objections were raised by Littlemore Parish Council who said the proposal encroached on consecrated ground and cited a lack of open community space.

Planning officers had recommended the proposals for approval.
