Jorge Martin Carreno murder case: CCTV 'showed murder accused searching for victim'

A jury has been shown CCTV footage of a woman accused of murder allegedly looking for a victim.

Prosecutors said Scarlet Blake, 25, who denies murdering Jorge Martin Carreno, 30, was looking for someone to kill on the streets of Oxford in July 2021.

Jurors have been shown CCTV of Ms Blake and Mr Martin Carreno in the city centre hours before his death.

Oxford Crown Court has previously heard she livestreamed the torturing and killing of a cat months before.

The footage shows Spanish national Mr Martin Carreno trying to find his way home, not realising he had dropped his wallet, the court was told.

Prosecutors said the footage showed him walking around Oxford as the defendant was seen also walking the streets wearing a distinctive combat-style jacket with a hood over her head, a facemask and carrying a rucksack.

Eventually, the jury was told, they met at the Radcliffe Camera, where she offered Mr Martin Carreno a bottle of vodka.

'What it felt like to kill'

Ms Blake is accused of taking him to the secluded Parsons Pleasure area at the River Cherwell, and attacking him there in the early hours of 25 July 2021.

Mr Martin Carreno's body was found face down in the river the following day, having drowned, the court was told.

Prosecutor Alison Morgan KC told the jury Mr Martin Carreno had died because he met a person "who had a fixation with violence and with knowing what it would feel like to kill someone".

Ms Morgan added "it was no accident" Ms Blake found him.

"The defendant planned an attack on a person that night and went out seeking a vulnerable target," she said.

Jurors have also seen videos they were told were of the defendant and her partner engaging in consensual strangulation with ligatures.

The trial has previously heard how months before Mr Martin Carreno's death, Blake had livestreamed killing and dissecting a cat after watching a Netflix documentary.
