The Post Office is to open a new branch in Oxford.

The service will launch at the Midcounties Co-op in Rose Hill in June.

Other branches in the area are based in Littlemore and Donnington, but a third will shut when Templars Square shopping centre in Cowley closes along with the Midcounties Co-op there.

"We are continually looking to refresh our network and ensure we meet our customer needs," the Post Office said in a statement.

Damien Haydock, Post Office network provision lead, said: "We know how important our services are to customers, and are confident that this brand new Post Office will ensure that people in the Rose Hill area of Oxford have easy access to our services."

The company currently has more than 11,500 branches in the UK, and claims 99.7% of the population live within three miles of one of its branches.

It is currently the subject of an inquiry after hundreds of sub-postmasters were wrongly prosecuted for stealing due to a computer system called Horizon.

The Rose Hill Post Office will be open Mondays to Fridays from 09:00 to 17:30, and Saturdays 09:00 to 14:00.
