Body is found in the River Severn at Shrewsbury

A man's body has been found in the River Severn.

The discovery came as police searched for 27-year-old Mark Hodnett who disappeared after leaving a local night club in the early hours of Saturday, 13 August.

The body was spotted by a member of the public near Kingsland Bridge at around midday on Thursday.

It was recovered by police, and firecrews and confirmed dead at the scene by ambulance staff.

The body has not yet been identified.
