A new nature reserve could be created in Telford if plans are signed off by councillors next week.

Telford and Wrekin's cabinet will meet on 20 October to discuss formally declaring Madebrook Pools and Stirchley Dingle a Local Nature Reserve.

All local authorities are required to select, declare and manage Local Nature Reserves where appropriate.

A council spokesman said reserves helped maintain a balance between the built and green environment.

The proposal for the new nature reserve has been developed in partnership with a community group, the Madebrook and Stirchley Dingle Steering Group.

Once the cabinet approves the plans, the next stage will be to submit the application to Natural England before the final declaration of the site as a Local Nature Reserve.
