Wellington man sentenced after allowing brothel at flat

A man who controlled a 16-year-old girl working as a prostitute has been given a jail sentence.

Mohammed Younis, 60, from Wellington, Shropshire, was said to have been at his flat when the girl was paid £50 by a customer to have sex with her.

Younis was jailed for two-and-a-half years but was expected to be released almost immediately after being on a tag on bail and spending time on remand.

He admitted a charge of facilitating child prostitution in 2008.

Younis, who was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court, was banned from working with children for life.

He had been on a monitored tag while on bail for more than 1,000 days and spent time on remand following his arrest.

Deborah Gould, prosecuting, said the teenage victim and another girl were with Younis and another man who had phoned the "punter" to come to the flat in Arleston.

Simon Davies, defending Younis, said his client had a heart condition, had needed surgery and continued to take medication.

Younis, who now lives in Birmingham with relatives, had denied a further allegation of conspiring with another man to facilitate child prostitution involving unknown girls.

Judge Michael Challinor ordered the offence should lie on the file.
