Hadley solar farm plan recommended for approval

Plans to build a £6m solar farm on land in Shropshire have been recommended for approval by council planning officers.

Telford and Wrekin Council wants to install more than 16,000 solar panels on 30 acres (12 hectares) at Wheat Leasows, Hadley, near Telford.

It said the energy generated would power 1,000 local homes with surplus electricity being fed into the National Grid to make money for the council.

The authority said it had received four letters of objection.

A report by planning officers, external said there would be "some visual impact" for local residents but "this has to be balanced against the provision of a renewable energy generating scheme."

The proposals will go before the council next Wednesday.
