An on-demand bus service is set to be trialled in Shrewsbury.

Passengers will be offered free transport to try out the buses, which will be available to book via an app or phone call.

The service will initially run alongside the 544 bus to Lyth Hill and 546 bus to Church Pulverbatch from the end of October.

It will replace the current service in December, covering the two villages from Monday to Saturday.

The bus will operate from 07:30 until 18:30. Pick-up and drop-off locations include Meole Brace retail park, Nuffield Hospital and Shrewsbury train station.

Shropshire Council said it has plans to introduce the service across the county due to a reduced demand for buses.
